Technology is a wonderful thing.
Wireless technology is even more wonderful.
As I sit here on my couch, typing on my laptop, I am in the process of getting my Wii on the internet for the very first time. The reason I am able to finally get it on the net is because I have just got my antiquated wireless working. So in addition to be to play all my old favourites, I can finally use my laptop wirelessly (which in a one bedroom unit is not that big a deal, but I’ll take the victories where I can).
From the bedroom I can hear the incessant chiming and chirping of her favourite game on DS. Hell now I can finally use the wireless on the DS.
What does all the ubiquity of wireless devices mean? Well just that, they are ubiquitous. These devices have become cheap and easy enough that they have subtly weaseled their way into every corner of my (small) home.
Would my life be any harder with out them? No probably not. Would it be less enjoyable and seamless? Probably.

Good to see you posting. I was just thinking about your decision to do this stuff again, actually (well that’s why I am here, commenting). I was going to say, if you really want to make it work, you have to invest a *lot* of after-hours time on reading, and fiddling, and just soaking it all up. It’s a lot easier for me cos I live alone and I have no life, but if you think you can find the time, good luck to you sir!
Stick twhirl on the lappy now
